The annual event known as Eco Seagate, now in its fourth year, included 200 Seagate colleagues from around
the globe who participated in a week-long teambuilding and learning event. It was designed to break down barriers
to individual, team and company success and teach employees about their vast potential for overcoming challenges.
The five-day event used environmentally aware, socially responsible learning and competition that incorporated Seagate's corporate values.
One of the main aims of the event was to teach the value of teamwork, communication, strategic risk-taking and the willingness to change.
Eco Seagate began with four days of group learning and outdoor-skills training, which culminated in a day-long adventure race that drew on the commitment,
flexibility and cooperation of the more than 40 5-person teams. |

ADVENTURE RACING
Team Seagate competed in the Southern Traverse 2001 located in Queenstown NZ which included
5-6 days of racing covering approximately 400-450km.
The Southern Traverse is clearly recognized in the sporting world, not only in New Zealand but also overseas.
The concept of adventure racing was developed in New Zealand in 1989, and the Traverse began in this area a year later.
It challenged a large field of international competitors when it got underway near Queenstown.
More than 60 teams, including Team Seagate, entered into this year's event with increased numbers of
European and Australian teams traveling 'down under' to compete. |
